Being Berean

A note up front! I, Danwillie have been on this world 3/4 of a century. I am a believer in the KJV Bible. Every Word is of GOD and for edification of believers. I have found the King James Bible my preferred choice as for accuracy and completeness. Furthermore, I am, in no way, gifted in any form. I do enjoy the Bible, and I thank God for his Grace to save a wretch like me. I do believe Faith and Faith Alone is the Only path to Salvation. When I say being berean, I only mean to Study the Scriptures Daily, as in Act 17:10-12.

The phrase "being Berean" (or "to be a Berean") draws directly from the King James Bible in the New Testament, specifically Acts 17:11 (KJV):

"These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."

This verse describes the Jews in the city of Berea (modern-day Veria in Greece) during the Apostle Paul's missionary journey. After facing opposition in Thessalonica, Paul and Silas went to Berea, where they preached in the synagogue. Unlike many in Thessalonica who reacted with hostility or closed-mindedness, the Bereans were commended for their noble (or "more fair-minded/open-minded") character. The key is to study scripture daily to be prepared to counter misstatement in this world. There are absolutes in our Faith in Christ, such as our Salvation being eternal. I believe that we can differ on other issues the KJ bible presents that we each may see differently depending on our walk,and I hope to discuss these points.
